In August, Tom and Helene went to a NASCAR pre-race. It was a short race... only a couple hours long. As Dennis kept saying, just when you start getting tired of it, it's over. This was the last time this race was being held in Darlington on Labor Day weekend. This was a long standing tradition. Next time, this race will be in California.
We had fun watching the cars coming and going.
Our little group from Eastside Baptist Church had a great time.
The cars were so loud, we had to wear earplugs. Once the race started, communication basically stopped.
It was a lot of fun baking out in the hot sun! We slathered on the sunblock... which helped the tiny bits of tire floating in the air stick to us. If we go again, it will be a different race in a cooler part of the year.
